Dantiscus mentions the obstacles to navigation [from Gdańsk (Danzig)] and a request for permission to export goods [text damaged].
On behalf of the king [Sigismund I Jagiellon], Dantiscus offers the monarch’s mediation in concluding a truce in the war [between the Netherlands and Denmark] if the addressee agrees to it with the emperor’s [Charles V’s] permission. The king would act in accordance with pre-conditions to be received from her, under which the agreement were to be made. He is motivated by his close relationship with the queen and her brothers [Charles V and Ferdinand I of Habsburg], as well as his desire to do them a favour.
For [the Poles] have no interests vested in Denmark other than paying customs duties and participating in annual herring fishing.
