Before Dantiscus received Perrenot de Granvelle’s letter sent on 8 March from Regensburg, he wrote to him on 1 April, entrusting to his care the royal envoy Stanisław Maciejowski and the matters with which he had been dispatched.

Dantiscus thanks Perrenot de Granvelle for the love and kindness shown to him, for keeping his memory alive despite the passage of time and physical distance, as well as for the promise of assistance both in his affairs and in the affairs of those who mention his name. He assures him that, to the best of his ability, he will gladly reciprocate in kind.

As per Perrenot de Granvelle’s request, in the coming days Dantiscus will send Cornelis de Schepper large antlers of local game from Gdańsk (Danzig) across the Baltic Sea. De Schepper will deliver those along with moose hooves, which are said to cure epilepsy. Dantiscus explains about moose [the text is damaged here], describing them as large animals with heads and fur resembling those of donkeys. If the shipment is well received, he will try to procure larger [or more numerous] specimens (ampliora). He is happy to fulfil any wishes, both regarding the sending of local products and others.

Dantiscus recalls the pleasant time he spent together with Perrenot de Granvelle in Monzón, where the emperor [Charles V] used to convene the Cortes Generales, as well as in Italy, Belgium, and Germany. He asks the addressee to recommend his services to the emperor.
