Letter #2160

Stephanus TOBIE to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Löbau (Lubawa), 1539-06-03

English register: He has received news of the death of Dantiscus’ mother. He expresses his condolences. Dantiscus’ orders have been passed on to be fulfilled. He had already told his fellow friars to pray for her soul. Master Płotowski dealt generously with the money matters and supplied candles. Tobie also promises to add an intention for the soul of Dantiscus’ mother to the Masses he celebrates. He is glad that Dantiscus cherishes his order [the Franciscans]. He is keeping Ideota for now, waiting for the second copy. He really likes the book, but does not want to deprive Dantiscus of it for too long.

Ideota adhuc apud me versatur, spe alterius consequendi.

His quam bene valeat Reverendissima Dominatio Vestra Tithoniamque vivat senectam.

Lubovii, tertio Iunii anno incarnati Verbi supra sesquimillesimum tricesimo nono.

Reverendissimae Dominationis eiusdem ex animo clientulus, frater Stephanus Tobie guardianus indignus
