Letter #1745

Ioannes DANTISCUS to Tiedemann GIESE
Löbau (Lubawa), 1537-10-13

English register: Dantiscus informs Giese of his return from the assembly. He is exhausted, and additionally depressed by his mother’s illness. She came to visit her granddaughter who is in the convent in Chełmno. Dantiscus left her, ill, in Starogród and would like to return to her immediately, but he cannot because he has to prepare the dispatch of the documents to Rome, which requires an urgent meeting with Giese. He insists that Giese be in Lubawa on October 18. He is too tired to write about the events of the assembly, so he encloses notes on it. He also encloses the sample document received earlier from Giese, because he does not have a notary whose hand would be known in Rome. He hopes Giese can find a notary by himself who will copy the document.
