Letter #3849
[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to UNKNOWN [possibly Feliks (Szczęsny) SRZEŃSKI (SOKOŁOWSKI)]s.l., [ca. 1542-09-24]
English register:
Dantiscus thanks the addressee for allowing his brother [probably Georg von Höfen] to pass through the castle at Marienburg (Malbork) while the town was congested with wagons. He promises, if needed, to return the favour by hosting the addressee at his own residence [presumably at Heilsberg (Lidzbark)].
He has instructed the bearer of the letter to discuss with the addressee the purchase of up to six barrels of beer from Bydgoszcz. He asks to be notified once the shipment arrives. He promises to send a wagon and cover the costs of the purchase.
