Letter #106

[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to [Sigismund I Jagiellon]
Heilsberg (Lidzbark), 1541-03-18

English register:

Dantiscus informs that the secretary of the Gdańsk (Danzig) City Council [Jakob Fürstenberger] is setting out for the royal court. His mission concerns not only the interests of the town but also those of the entire Royal Prussia. Due to widespread high prices and shortage of grain, the council proposes a ban on its export. Dantiscus supports this initiative and asks the king to graciously receive the envoy and to hear his petition.
