Letter #799

Jan LEWICKI to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Czerwińsk, 1539-06-18

English register:

Jan Lewicki explains the delay in his correspondence: at both synods — diocesan and provincial — he appeared as the plaintiff in the trial of the murderers of his predecessor in the office of abbot.

He assures Dantiscus of his love and respect. Before he comes to visit him himself, he is sending two of his fellow friars to serve Dantiscus: the elder, Mikołaj, is a model of righteousness and simplicity, he can be useful in uncomplicated matters; the younger, a nobleman, is prudent and experienced in household affairs. If they are not found to be useful, he asks that they be sent back.

            received [1539]-06-25
