Letter #639
Cornelis DE SCHEPPER to Ioannes DANTISCUSDonauwörth, 1531-06-09
English register:
De Schepper has arrived in Donauwörth, from where he will travel to Regensburg along the river. In Regensburg, he should buy horses to travel to Silesia, where King [Ferdinand] is said to be staying. He is not looking forward to this part of the journey. He finds comfort in the book of Ecclesiastes that he received as a present from Dantiscus. He is uncertain about the future, but the first part of his mission is already a success. He relies on his zeal and his efficiency to achieve a successful result for the Emperor [Charles V].
He has not been able to meet Count Palatine Friedrich [of Wittelsbach], but he keeps trying. He will take care of the letter and the other things entrusted to him. Meanwhile he recommends himself and his wife [Elisabeth Donche] to Dantiscus and asks that he may be of service to someone (huic homini). In the postscript he entrusts his wife to the care of Dantiscus.
