Letter #637

Cornelis DE SCHEPPER to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Speyer, 1531-06-03

English register:

De Schepper was quite unexpectedly entrusted with a mission for which he is now in Speyer. He thinks this is a good sign, given the desperate situation in which he was before. He could not meet Count Palatine Friedrich [of Wittelsbach] in Heidelberg, as he is in Bohemia. He was occupied with the case of some Brabant citizens. He does not know anything about the Turkish envoy who has arrived at the court of the Emperor [Charles V].

De Schepper will leave Speyer on June 5 for the mission that was entrusted to him. For the rest, he will see in due time. He recommends his wife [Elisabeth Donche] to Dantiscus and asks him to console her during his absence. He hopes the mission will bring him honour.

            received Ghent (Gandavum), [1531]-06-17
