Letter #3604

Jan [of Bydgoszcz], provincial of the Carmelite Order in Poland, Bohemia, Silesia, Russia, Prussia and Lithuania to Ioannes DANTISCUS
Poznań (Posen), 1537-05-13

English register:

Jan [of Bydgoszcz], Provincial of the Carmelites, informs Dantiscus that former priest and runaway Carmelite Józef is currently serving (to the indignation of the faithful) as an organist and rector of the schola in Golub, in the addressee’s diocese.

Knowing of Dantiscus’ zeal in eradicating departures from the Christian faith, the sender asks him for help with capturing and placing the runaway in the convent so that he can do penance for his error.
