Letter #1593

[Ioannes DANTISCUS] to [Piotr OPALIŃSKI]
Löbau (Lubawa), 1537-03-16

English register: Dantiscus is writing to Opaliński because he did not have an opportunity to talk to him at the Diet in Cracow. Following the written request of Brandenburg margrave Johann Albrecht, he reminds Opaliński about the promise he made the margrave, that he would intercede with the king on the matter of a salary for him, or a church benefice. Dantiscus made friends with Johann Albrecht during their shared five years at the imperial court. He praises the margrave’s personal qualities and his valuable service to the Polish king.
