Ceterum petit a me Vestra Reverendissima Dominatio, ut munus ordinandi sacerdotes in episcopatu nostro eidem concederem. The tension between the Prussian Subtreasurer and the Council had been increasing since the Diet in Graudenz (Grudziądz) in 1533. Kostka, connected with the royal court since his youth, was sent to Graudenz as the King's deputy and, contrary to custom, decided to take part in the proceedings. In response to such a step, the Council members stopped the meeting. Kostka accused them of hostility towards the Poles and intervened on this matter at the court. Reverendissimi in Christo Patres et Magnifice Domini, domini amici in Domino carissimi ac honoran(di) or honoran(dissimi)honoran(di)honoran(di) or honoran(dissimi).

Salutem et mutuam benevolentiam.

Quid egerim et qua ratione sim usus in hac apud Carthusian convent in Kartuzy CarthusienseCarthusian convent in Kartuzy et Cistercian convent in Żarnowiec Zarnoviense monasteriumCistercian convent in Żarnowiec institutione, Dominationes Vestrae ex me per litteras requirunt. Ego vero, etsi videam, non me teneri ullius facti mei ratione reddenda cuiquam alteri, praeterquam Deo Optimo et serenissimo Sigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of AustriaprincipiSigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austria nostro communi, ubi id ex me flagitaverit, tamen quia natura sum benevolus atque tractabilis, et cupio res gestas meas omnibus esse, quoad fieri potest, conspicuas, haec Dominationibus Vestris pro mutua amicitiae conservatione significo.

In quo priorum litterarum suarum consilium aperiunt.

Sed cum id omne auctore quodammodo Sigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austriaserenissimo rege nostroSigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austria summo libertatis custode, tutore, alumno gesserim, et cum id Holy See (Sedes Apostolica) Sedi ipsi ApostolicaeHoly See (Sedes Apostolica) , quam ut veritatis ita libertatis etiam et omnium virtutum columnam atque stabilimentum confitemur, probari videam, non possum existimare hanc esse libertatis oppressionem. Ego enim, cum ex litteris Dominationum Vestrarum Reverendissimarum intellexissem rem ad saeculares, ut vocant, devolvi, confugeram ad Sigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austriaserenissimum regemSigismund I Jagiellon (Zygmunt I) (*1467 – †1548), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1506-1548); Duke of Głogów (Glogau) (1499-1506), Duke of Opava (1501-1506), Governor of Silesia (1504-1506); son of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellon and Elisabeth of Austria etiam, ut iurisdictionem ecclesiasticam meam bracchio UUB, H. 154, f. 147v suo tueatur, ubi res iam ita est intricata, ut expediri nondum possit.

Unum illud excipio, quod cum Gdańsk Town Council domini GedanensesGdańsk Town Council contionatorem a me praesentatum suscipere noluissent ac eius rei causam eam dicerent, quod a Tiedemann Giese (Tidemannus Gisius) (*1480 – †1550), in 1519 ennobled by King Sigismund I; 1504-1538 Canon of Ermland (Warmia); 1516-1527, 1533-1537 Judicial Vicar and Vicar General of Ermland; 1523-1538 Custos of Ermland; 1537-1549 Bishop of Kulm (Chełmno); 1549-1550 Bishop of Ermland (BORAWSKA 1984, passim)reverendissimo domino CulmensiTiedemann Giese (Tidemannus Gisius) (*1480 – †1550), in 1519 ennobled by King Sigismund I; 1504-1538 Canon of Ermland (Warmia); 1516-1527, 1533-1537 Judicial Vicar and Vicar General of Ermland; 1523-1538 Custos of Ermland; 1537-1549 Bishop of Kulm (Chełmno); 1549-1550 Bishop of Ermland (BORAWSKA 1984, passim) dioecesi sua pulsus sit, et ego quaerendam mihi pulsionis causam ex illo ipso contionatore sumerem illeque respondisset propterea id sibi accidisse, quod a Romanae ecclesiae sancitis declinare Martin Luther (Martinus Lutherus) (*1483 – †1546), theologian, leader and originator of the German ReformationMartini LuteriMartin Luther (Martinus Lutherus) (*1483 – †1546), theologian, leader and originator of the German Reformation dogma profiteri noluit.

Dominationes Vestras Reverendissimas bene valere meque amare opto.
